If you are new to yoga and would like to learn how to do the basic postures correctly, or if you are a frequent practitioner looking to refine your alignment and practice, our “Back to Basics” workshop is for you!
Come join Hatha Yoga teacher Kylie Denis in a two-part workshop that will teach you the basic foundations of a Hatha Vinyasa yoga practice.
The first class will focus on how to Vinyasa properly. This sequence is often quite challenging for most students (new and old)! So in this section will break down the Vinyasa sequence piece by piece to look at the different ways to take Vinyasa, the correct alignment for the postures (Plank, Chaturanga and Upward Dog), modifications and advanced options.
Our second class will examine, in depth, basic standing postures. With each posture we will work on finding the correct stance, safe alignment and modifications as well as transitions in and out of the postures. We will also talk about the muscles that are activated in each pose and the benefits for our bodies.
If you’ve ever found yourself in a class not knowing how to properly “square” your hips, “tuck” the tailbone or improve your posture in the way the teacher is instructing, this class will help guide you through the meaning of these cues as well as what to feel in your body as you make the necessary adjustments.
