Meet our highly experienced and certified team of teachers who will help guide you through the physical and mental journey of yoga.
Asako started yoga in 2006 with Shilpa Ghatalia at Yogshakti in KL. After taking many workshops such as Buteyko, Body Cleansing, Meditation and several 21days courses, she took Yogshakti’s Integrative Teacher Training Course and completed her Yoga Alliance RYT200 in 2015.
She discovered that yoga is not just about taking care of the body but it is useful in bringing about awareness off the mat in everyday life. Being introduced to the philosophy of Advaita by Ragi Kadirgamar was a real eye opener for her. The concept of oneness made her life much easier and she learned how to surrender to life. Also, inspired by the book “Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle, she now enjoys living fully in each present moment. In Yin yoga classes, she works on the energy body in order for the Chi to flow unobstructed throughout the body.
The message she wants to share is – Let Life Flow and Smile with gratitude.
Kym Choong started practicing yoga since 15 years ago on a occasionally basis. She is now a certified Yoga Alliance RYT 200 yoga teacher and she will be completing her advanced 500 hours Yogshakti Integrative Yoga training with Shilpa Ghatalia in March 2020.
Integrative Yoga is a ‘philosophy in form’. It attempts to harmonise the body, mind, breath and emotion through the integration of various ideologies and practices, and one of them being the Taoism and Qi Gong. Kym is herself since 2013 a Tai Chi practitioner and 2017 a Shaolin Qi Gong practitioner. The integration of Taoism teachings and Qi Gong into her yoga practice has enabled it to become a holistic system for the mind, body and spirit.

Siew Yin Yoon
Siew Yin has a finance background with which she had pursued a corporate career for 18 years. That desk job wreaked havoc on her body – sore wrists, stiff neck and other office-related aches. In order to treat these issues and to improve her strength and flexibility, she began taking yoga classes once or twice a week and self-practised on other days. She was determined to be kinder to her body and to maintain a healthier lifestyle – in that process she realized that yoga has become one of the most important things in her life.
In 2019, she started training with Shilpa Ghatalia at Yogshakti. Siew Yin was captivated by the holistic approach of Yogshakti Yoga and enrolled in a 200-hour Teacher Training course with Shilpa with the intention to deepen her personal practice. She has also trained with Diane Long, a long-time student of Vanda Scaravelli, on the methods of Scaravelli-inspired yoga.
Siew Yin has been intrigued by the mind-body connection through her yoga practice. Seeing how yoga transformed her on and off the mat, she became inspired to share her experience with others. On the mat, she enjoys arm balances and inversions which she would sometimes integrate them into her meditative flows. She believes that yoga is accessible to everyone and is committed to presenting her classes according to the ability of each student. Her hope is that students step off the mat feeling energized, refreshed and nourished in both body and mind.
Crystal’s yoga journey began 18 years ago with a casual practise whenever she could make time. She loved it but never had time for a daily practise. In May 2018, she decided to make a dedicated effort by signing up for a 200 hour training course with Shilpa Ghatalia at Yogshakti and has not looked back. A daily practise of Yogshakti’s Integrative Yoga has changed every corner of her life: from self-care to parenting, relationships and her outlook on life. She was so impressed with the results that she could not help but want to share with others and started teaching immediately.
Crystal loves to share ways to feel better in the body and mind. She believes yoga should be accessible to everyone, and strives to make her classes a safe place for students to practise. By encouraging students to find their own unique place in each pose, she empowers them to personalize their practice based on their unique body. She focuses on bringing the senses inward and developing a loving relationship with self and body. She aims to guide her students through meditation in movement so they are energized in body and calm in mind after each class. Crystal recently completed the 500 RYT certificate with Shilpa Ghatalia at Yogshakti, and has also studied with Patty McGrath, Sebastian & Murielle Purcelle and Diane Long. She considers herself a student first and continues to look for ways to grow her practise.
Aglaé started her practice of Hatha Yoga and Pilates in France to release her chronic back issues, especially during and after pregnancy. Feeling the benefits of her practice, she then discovered Vinyasa through an inspiring teacher. When she moved to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2017, she joined a 200 Hours Teacher Training Course that covered Hatha, Iyengar, Vinyasa and Ashtanga, with a deep focus on Asanas. Teaching Yoga became a transformative journey for her on many levels – she felt she had found her life path.
Her Yoga journey in Kuala Lumpur led her to the discovery of Yogshakti’s Integrative Yoga. She was instantly captivated by its unique approach. As an eternal student, she intensively learned about tensegrity, freedom of the spine, philosophy, meditation, breathing and Yoga Nidra. Aglaé then decided to join Yogshakti’s 300 Hours Teacher Training Course in 2019 to deepen her quest of Integrative Yoga from Shilpa Ghatalia, the founding owner of Yogshakti. Meanwhile, she continued teaching, going to classes and studying the many facets of Yoga. Aglaé’s classes can be highly energizing, incorporating challenging poses like arm balances and inversions. Her enthusiasm about energizing poses is contagious. She encourages her students to be playful, allowing their inner child to take over. Her classes usually start with sitting quietly to center and still the mind, continued with breathing practices, a gentle warm-up before going into the flow, building the fire to reach peak poses, and end with a deep relaxation.
Aglaé also leads relaxing classes, guiding students to focus on the breath, to yield and let go. She is a 500-Hours Registered Integrative Yoga Teacher (RYT®) with Yoga Alliance. She is passionate about spirituality, personal development, alternative healing techniques, health, nature and ecology. Join her on the mat at Yogshakti every Thursday, 9.30am-11am.
After 20 years in the pharma Industry, I realized that neither my career nor my business was really answering my personal and health needs. It took me some time to shift my mind and really get into well-being and self-realization. Yoga practice has been the tipping point and the anchor of an interesting journey exploring the many dimensions of life. Yoga more than anything else has given me the strength, the clarity, the guidance I needed to feel and enjoy life.
Having Completed the RYS alliance 200h teacher training in 2018 and rather numerous courses of integrative Yoga since 2014, I understood It is time for me to share and to help others find their own balance.
I am very pleased to bring my practical experience combined to the integrative yoga techniques to anyone looking for something more in life.
